Jesus Neri
Jesus Neri was born in Mexico City. When he was six years old he moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco. Ten years later started taking drum lessons with Jorge Siddartha(famous national solo artitst). A couple years later he started playing with the indie rock band Sappho. They shared the stage with famous indie rock bands like Yo La Tengo and Tristeza. After their break up he started playing with Hey Chica!. Soon they recorded an EP called "Do you really believe?" which gained national recognition for their tracks "Curse the Space" and "Issues". Both songs were featured in a TV series called "Soy tu fan(I'm your fan)" aired in Mexico, U.S.A. and different countries in South America. In late 2010 Hey Chica! started writing new songs for theri upcoming LP. He wrote the lyrics and played some piano parts for a couple songs.
In 2011 Jesus started rehearsing with Childs and played with them the "Indie-o fest", sharing the stage with The concretes, Zola Jesus, Bear in Heaven and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. After that, he went back to the studio and recorded some tracks for a Ritchie Valens tribute with Childs. Later that year Hey Chica! released their first LP "Lo que nadie ve" (What no one sees) and as a promotion they were the openers for New York pop shoegazer act Asobi Seksu at Mexico City. Also he began doing session work as a recording engineer and online session drummer for various local/national bands.
