As tradition would have it, we’ve kept the Noble & Cooley name in the family. Say hello to the people who bring the noise.
JONATHAN (JAY) JONES, PRESIDENT
Jay is the 6th generation owner of N&C. He started coming to the factory as a boy in grade school, and grew up around the factory with his father and grandfather as mentors. Jay learned the many crafts of construction, electrical wiring, plumbing, welding and running all of the machine tools for metal and woodworking at an early age.
Jay started working full time at N&C in June of 1973 as general manager and purchasing agent for the bustling toy business. Always looking for different products that could blend with the toy business and balance the seasonal aspect, Jay jumped on the opportunity to make steam-bent, professional drums.
While Jay is not a musician himself, he views this as a strength from the design perspective, giving him a vantage point to look at ideas more holistically. What started out as Jay’s innovations have now become industry standards in the drum world. He takes great pride in the role that he has played in the evolution of the company and the custom drum world.
Nick is the Vice President of the company and the 7th generation descendant of the Cooley line. Growing up, Nick observed his older brother playing drums, and gravitated to the bass to round out the rhythm section. He has since spent the majority of his life playing in numerous bands.
Nick started working for the company as a summer job in high school. As the youngest member of the team, Nick graduated college in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in audio production, and started working full time for the family business soon after. As every member of the Noble & Cooley team wears many hats (or plays many drums) at the company, Nick fields the general inquiry emails and handles social media communications.
His favorite role, however, is being in the factory and making the drums himself with the rest of the team; from cutting the bearing edges to assembling complete drum sets.
James is a life-long drummer whose true passion in life is all things drumming. He studied percussion at the University of Central Oklahoma and started out working in retail at Norman Music Center, quickly becoming one of their top performers. He then branched out into the manufacturing world, helping to introduce Sakae into the United States. While there, he did sales, A&R, and Marketing and partnered with Zildjian as a Product Specialist, helping bring the Gen-16 cymbal line into the marketplace. James brings us product and marketplace expertise as well and significant industry relations and enthusiasm which will help us expand our presence in the drum world.
